Nobles Bar, Leith Nobles bar, a few doors down from the Port Of Leith on Constitution Street, offers guest ales and live music (rock/jazz/blues) on Friday and Saturday nights but can be a little bit quiet during the week.

It has a good range of ales with a new guest ale on offer every week. The bar prices are quite reasonable for Edinburgh/Leith.

Although it doesn't look too inviting from the outside with dark stained glass windows, it is quite spacious and has a bit of character once inside with sea scene pictures on the walls - a far cry from the days before its' refurbishment some years ago when it was a regular hang-out for the Docks workers. (Perhaps due to the strippers who used to perform there!)

There are also 2 TV screens and a big screen for football/rugby fans.

My father owned Nobles Bar back in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Back then it was a "men only" drinking establishment, frequented by the workers from the dock area. The bar was in the centre of the room, but the stain glass windows look the same

Noble´s is reopened and is, in my opinion, better than ever. The bottled beers are superb (don´t drink draught so can´t comment) and the staff are brilliant!

I´ve been drinking in this pub, on and off, for best part of twenty five years and this is the best it´s ever felt atmosphere wise.

Andy.

I remember Nobles as it was 31 years ago in the days of dockers and strippers.
It was my first experience of a strippers haunt. I remember standing in front of a tiny stage watching some lithesome wench derobe about 2 feet in front of my open-mouthed face! Unfortunately (?) she reacted by shoving a breast into said open mouth!
Quite an experience for a hapless 17 year old from the south of England.
A life changing experience!
I believe i threw up afterwards!

Nobles is great. A real pub, with real people really enjoying themselves. Locals may be revolting, but that´s Leith for you - salt of the earth. Good live music too. See my website for pub stuff: igmoss.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk and, if you see me, mine´s a Guiness! Yup - I AM a Jambo, ha ha ha.

An underrated gem!
Thankfully this pub has escaped the sad trend of the style-bar and is one of Edinburgh´s few remaining traditional scottish pubs with good live music and a friendly atmosphere.
