 Subway West End is a busy nightclub which has had an extensive refurbishment. Not to be confused with the more dingier Subway on Cowgate (at least this one doesn't smell of sick), this place attracts a younger crowd and is primarily a student-based club.It is a bit common and drinks can be quite pricey, although I understand they do sometimes do good special offers on bevvy (such as all drinks £1.50 all night Sun-Thurs) which has the downside of attracting the neds. And don't bring any coats or baggage if you can help it as you will have to battle your way to the cloakroom. The DJ’s play the latest in pop, r’n’b, as well as the best music from the last few decades. Has it's fair share of fannies but hey it is Lothian Road we're talking about. £5 entry. I have to say i always bad mouthed subway went to cav and george st all the time but for the past 2 months we have ended up in subway!!!!!!!!!! Every nite has been fab drinks were cheap great for the credit crunch !!! no trouble at all music been fab and yeah its not been packed out but bloody good cos now i can dance and drink my drink b4 someone bloody knocks its out ma hand !!! I am not a cav single mother with tx max clothes and orange tan so dont think thats all that goes there u get them every where ya go!!!!!!

Just thought I´d say that I´m in total agree with you Serious Sam. Although the Cav is/was pretty desperate it couldn´t possibly be as bad as the Subway. You just have to read some of the posts to see what you would end up rubbing shoulders with! Sexy Sue. How much would anyone want to bet that she´s not? Craig Armstrong, who apparently has "slept with many gorgeous women" Yeah right! not here and not ever, the smart money is on him being a virgin. AVOID THIS place!

Serious Sam and Someone who should no better, I salute you. Your observations on the pit that is the Subway are spot on, from the bouncers to the bar-staff to the clientele everything about this place reeks of tanning salons and single mothers with a steady undercurrent of violence helpfully provided by Edinburghs male underclass. This place and the freak show inside is to be avoided by the intelligent at all costs especially since they´ve moved the Infirmary to the other side of town!

If you read the comment below where someone says Cav is full of posh ya´s then you will get a gauge on how low Subways punters are. If Cav is posh then I don´t know if there is a depth low enough for this place then!

If you like your woman underage, orange and dressed from TK Maxx this is the place for you! Me? I´m personally a big fan of getting my head kicked in by a bunch of hopped-up, spotty 14 year olds. Fantastic! I thoroughly recommend it as a perfect end og night.

I use to love this place when I was a student but it started getting really bad when it was so hot the sweat condensed on the ceiling and then drip onto us while we danced. Had some fun times here but its not a classy place to go.

the doorstaff at the Subway Westend are nothing more than THUGS. They get paid to instigate trouble, rather than diffuse it, as exemplified on Saturday night. They then have the cheek to try and charge innocent people with assault. THIS BEHAVIOUR HAS TO STOP!

This is not a bad bar, the music is always good. But i have had trouble geting in somtime due to my occupation of being in the forces. Im not even based in the uk and still get turned away, and im not even showing mod id. Which i believe is shocking and will never go again or tell my mates to either.
