This used to be the White Cockade many years ago. Like many pubs on Rose Street it as an open front onto the street and outside seating for summertime drinking.Just next to the Mussel Inn restaurant, the Rose Street Brewery has a traditional look and feel and originally this pub brewed its own ales (hence the name) including the renowned Auld Reekie Ale. There is a great hidden restaurant (a Brewhouse restaurant) up a very discreet stair to the side of the pub that is on the ground floor. Steaks are a speciality. Pub hours 11.00am to 11.00pm, Friday & Saturday: 11.00am to 1.00am. Sunday: 12.30pm to 11.00pm. Food service times: 12.00 noon to 9.00pm on all but Friday and Saturday when food service is extended to 9.30pm

Submitted by alex baillie (Falkirk) on Sunday, April 06, 2008: remember this pub from the 70s when it was the White Cockade,, was the stopping point before we went to the Americana Disco,, not far from the pub,, was always busy upstairs and down,,friendly place, good jukebox, yep happy memories,, Submitted by Nigel Anderson on Saturday, October 27, 2007: You may be interested that I lunched at the White Cockade Restaurent 0n Monday 14th September 1959. I still have the letter from the Managing Director, Alan D Lockhead confirming my booking. I kept it because it was addressed to me at The Arctic Circle Norway where I actually received it in my tent.I looked you up because I hope to be in Edinburgh next March for the Six Nations Rugby and thought it would be an good opportunity to revisit.I trust your food is as good as it was all that time ago!!
