Situated in the basement, The Hogshead is easy to overlook. The entrance is discreet via a set of stairs leading down from Castle Street at the junction with Rose Street. There is also a rear entrance on Rose Street.A large friendly well lit pub with a good selection of cask and other ales. Bar meals are excellent (classic pub food) and there is choice of 20 cocktails, all served by the pitcher. Opening hours, Monday to Thursday: 11.30am to 11.00pm. Friday & Saturday: 11.30am to 1.00am. Sunday: 11.30am to 11.00pm. Food service times: 12.00 noon to 9.00pm daily.
