Named after a supposedly historical character in the days before plumbing whose job it was to remove night soil from houses. A pub has been here since 1859. It had around 6 real ales and about a dozen malt whiskies and a good wine list.Dirty Dicks do a good selection of local food cooked in-house such as Shepherd's Pie, Haggis, Neeps and Tatties, Haggis Pannini's, and sandwiches. The food is served by waistcoated staff until 10pm on weekdays and 7pm at weekends. Prices were not what you would call cheap though.
The decor is cluttered with nick nacks all over the walls such as musical instruments, military uniforms and old toys. This homely pub is very comfortable and attracts tourists and business people in the week and tends to be one of the more civilised, quieter establishments in the area at weekends. It has some outside tables where you can sit and watch the world go by (in the summer!). A very nice place, worth a visit.
