Auld Hundred pub Situated in the heart of the new town on Rose Street, the Auld Hundred is an old style pub on two levels with loads of neuks and crannies and provides traditional fayre for locals and tourists alike. It serves food all day long and you can get the Chef's specials or such things as Haggis, Neeps n Tatties for £5.25 plus a varied selection of other dishes inlcuding jacket potatoes, fish and other pub grub dishes. It also offers traditional Sunday lunch along with teas, coffee and cappuccino.

A pint of Guiness is quite expensive at £2.60 however. The pub is clean with a huge selection of drinks from friendly bar staff. There are a few tele's on showing sport also for when the conversations errs on the dull side.

If you wondering about the pubs name, check the number on Rose Street!

Verdict: Nice, clean quiet bar for quick afternoon pub lunch.

Ive only visited this pub twice because Im researching for my own pub guide website, I found the staff very friendly as were the regulars. The pubs a bit small but that only adds to the cozy feel of the place. The mistake this site has made is listing prices for food and drink.Unless the sites going to be updated every few weeks you´ll never keep up. We only need to know if the food & drink was good or bad and were prices reasonable / cheap or expensive. I didnt eat there but found the drinks prices fare.

I loved my visit to the Auld Hindred. The Manager, a beaautiful young lady, was so helpfull and kind to us. She sat down an toild us about the city, and where we should go. We are picky eaters, and she help us change our orders to suit our tastes. The was a very lovley Polish girl working as well, and she was promp with our drinks and food. I had a steak Pie, and it weas the best I have ever had in the whole UK!! It was a great experience

i went there with family on Sun 11th Feb 2007 for a Sunday lunch. upstairs was packed so we were told to wait downstairs until we were called, and that sunday roasts were available.there were 8 of us and we were told we would be about 20 mins.we were having a meal 2 hours later, roasts and steak pies were all gone, and when i asked why, was told by a rather inconsiderate bar person that it was so busy, that they had run out.....on a 6 nations weekend!!!they should have oredered more.they only had 3 eggs left as well,so only 3 had gammon with egg.food wasn´t very good either, drinks were reasonably priced though.

having been a frequent user of this pub over the last 20 odd years im yet to see a television apart from the only one thats in the bar never mind a few televisions up stairs in the resturant im not sure that you have been in this bar at all and now the price of a pint of guinness is £2.61 and thats 2 years after you have supposed to have been there and the food is quite good and resonable at just over £5.00 a meal and would recomend it to any one

Steady Joyce! So they were 4p out on the pint of Guiness. Big deal. I´ve been and there were more than 1 tele. Of course go visit the pubs yourself, this site just tries to give you some free info on some of Edinburgh´s pubs.

I believe this site get its info by visiting the pubs but things do change and you can´t expect them to be constantly monitoring all the activities of every single pub - sheesh!!

Submitted by Joyce on Tuesday, February 01, 2005:
There is only 1 TV in the pub. The food is all home cooked and a pint of Guinness is only £2.56. where do you get your information from??? I can´t stand these web sities who start off promising all the latest info but never up date. this is not the only site of this sort. the steak pie is £5.10 and this has been submitted in 1 feb 2005. this is a good pub as are all the rest. go to them all make you´re own decitions don´t go by web sites they are full off errors.
